Projects

  • EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS– each year the Club dedicates funds that it raises to supporting local education. Three $1,000 Scholarships are awarded each year to a matriculating or matriculated high school seniors in each of the three community (Ansonia, Seymour and Oxford). The Club has supported Back to School efforts by purchasing school supplies and backpacks for students. A Dictionary Project supplied third graders with personal dictionaries in past years.
  • COMMUNITY PROGRAMS – the Club supports a variety of civic and social service efforts each year. A Community Service Awards Ceremony recognizes outstanding volunteers and employees in the local civil service, including Police, Fire and EMS departments. The Club also has sponsors several Adopt a Spots in the region, including Haddad Parkin Ansonia. Each year, the Club donates funds to local agencies such as TEAM Inc. to support efforts to improve social conditions.  
  • Rotary Day of Service – each year, the Club identifies a community project to undertake that will enhance community services. In 2024 this effort benefited Adams House, while the previous year, club members purchased and planted vegetables at the Salvation Army community garden in Ansonia.
  • International Project Support – Periodically the Club will provide funds for the world-wide fight against polio that began over forty years ago. That effort has been supported in recent years by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation in recognition of its extraordinary accomplishments. Members also donate to the Rotary Foundation which supports an array of efforts throughout the world, such as providing water purification units in Africa and India.
  • Music Mends Minds – this program to assist local residents coping with Alzheimer’s and memory affliction uses a program prototype begun in California and was suspended during the pandemic.
  • Thanksgiving Food Drive –The Club has partnered with Liberty Bank to raise funds for area food pantries during this time of year.
