Three $1,000\u00a0<strong><em>Scholarships\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>are awarded each year to a matriculating or matriculated high school seniors in each of the three community (Ansonia, Seymour and Oxford). The Club has supported\u00a0<strong><em>Back to School\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>efforts by purchasing school supplies and backpacks for students. A\u00a0<strong><em>Dictionary Project<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0supplied third graders with personal dictionaries in past years.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong>COMMUNITY PROGRAMS\u00a0<\/strong>\u2013 the Club supports a variety of civic and social service efforts each year. A\u00a0<strong><em>Community Service Awards <\/em><\/strong>Ceremony recognizes outstanding volunteers and employees in the local civil service, including Police, Fire and EMS departments. The Club also has sponsors several Adopt a Spots in the region, including <em>Haddad Park<\/em>in Ansonia. Each year, the Club donates funds to local agencies such as <strong><em>TEAM Inc<\/em><\/strong>. to support efforts to improve social conditions. \u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong>Rotary Day of Service <\/strong>\u2013 each year, the Club identifies a community project to undertake that will enhance community services. In 2024 this effort benefited Adams House, while the previous year, club members purchased and planted vegetables at the Salvation Army community garden in Ansonia.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong>International Project Support <\/strong>\u2013 Periodically the Club will provide funds for the world-wide fight against polio that began over forty years ago. That effort has been supported in recent years by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation in recognition of its extraordinary accomplishments. Members also donate to the Rotary Foundation which supports an array of efforts throughout the world, such as providing water purification units in Africa and India.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong>Music Mends Minds <\/strong>\u2013 this program to assist local residents coping with Alzheimer\u2019s and memory affliction uses a program prototype begun in California and was suspended during the pandemic.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong>Thanksgiving Food Drive <\/strong>\u2013The Club has partnered with <strong><em>Liberty Bank<\/em><\/strong> to raise funds for area food pantries during this time of year.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]<\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;] EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS\u2013 each year the Club dedicates funds that it raises to supporting local education.
