ANSONIA SEYMOUR OXFORD ROTARY CLUB 2023 Scholarships

The winners are:

David Cassetti, Jr. - Ansonia High School - University of New Haven
Tyler Lang - Seymour High School - Quinnipiac
Devin Cronin - Seymour High School - UCONN

The Ansonia, Seymour and Oxford Rotary Club is proud to announce that the Club (dba AnSeOx Rotary) will grant two $500 scholarships to two (2) graduating high school seniors [or continuing education college students] who reside in the Towns of Seymour and Oxford; and one $1,000 scholarship to a matriculating high school senior who resides in Ansonia. The graduating High School seniors (or continuing education college students) must be attending a four-year college or university full time in August/September 2023 to be eligible.

Since the motto of Rotary International is “SERVICE ABOVE SELF”, each applicant is asked to submit a (not more than) 500-word essay that addresses this theme:  SERVICE ABOVE SELF.  The essay should reflect on its meaning to you personally.  Relate it to your personal experience and articulate the importance of service in your life and to your community, state or throughout the world.

The AnSeOx Rotary Club will make checks payable directly to the college/university of each of the three successful applicants. The awardees must provide the Club verification of the student’s attendance and commitment (e.g. an invoice from college/university showing student’s name, address and ID number) in order for this to be accomplished.

Deadline for essay submission is April 15, 2023. Please submit your application via email to [email protected]Also, include the following information with your essay:

  • Name and home address
  • Telephone number and Email address
  • College/university name, address, and year of attendance
  • Name of your high school and your class rank
  • A list of your extracurricular and volunteer activities in the past year

Scholarship recipients will be notified by April 27, 2023, and recipients will be asked to attend a club meeting to share their essay and college goals. The Club meets on the first and third Wednesdays at 5:00 PM at Rose’s Family Restaurant in Oxford.
