My daughter Lisa and I sang Christmas Carols for two hours straight which did attract a lot of attention and led to a nice bucket of donations. It was so much fun and we both look forward to volunteering next year!! I’m so glad Cheryl spoke at one of our Rotary meetings because that’s where it all started!!!
Merry Christmas everyone!!

Julia Day Children Receive an Early Holiday Gift

When Shannon Bullard, Director of the Julia Day Nursery and Childcare Center reached out to the local Rotary Club for help, she wasn’t quite sure what to expect. Her need was for winter hats and gloves for her children who often forgot to bring them from home. The Julia Day staff wanted to insure they had enough extra pieces on hand so that no child would be without this basic protection when the winter turns cold.

The AnSeOx Rotary Club (Ansonia, Seymour & Oxford) made the decision to provide warm hats and gloves for all fifty children. Since the shipment lots were larger than fifty, an extra ten pairs of hats and gloves also arrived.  Rotary Club President-Elect Joe Pinto and executive committee member Justin Vescovi brought the packages of ‘winter wear” to Sharon and her staff.  It was a chilly day and before you knew it, the kids had donned the caps and gloves and waved thanks to their new friends.

Rotary members contribute their time, energy, and passion to carry out meaningful and sustainable projects that promote peace, fight disease, provide clean water, help mothers and children, support education, grow local economies and protect the environment.

More information about the AnSeOx Rotary Club can be found at www.anseoxrotary.org . Interested residents are encouraged to visit Club meetings on the first and third Wednesdays at 5 PM at Rose’s Family Restaurant in Oxford.

Rotary, Liberty Bank Help Stock Food Pantries

Last week, three local food banks divided up $3,113 in donations that was raised by the AnSeOx Rotary Club (the Rotary Club of Ansonia, Seymour & Oxford CT) and Liberty Bank. The partnership between the Bank and Rotary Club has existed for many years.  This year, sixty-five CT organizations received donations, which totaled to $1.4 million in 2021

AnSeOx Club member Nancy Valentine visited the fortunate recipients four days before the Thanksgiving holiday, presenting each with a check for $1,037. The local food organizations selected by the Club were the Seymour-Oxford Food Bank, Blessings Pantry at Trinity Episcopal Church, and Master’s Table of Ansonia.

Director Toni Cassidy and Assistant Director Teri Archer of the Seymour-Oxford Food Bank explained that the gift would be used to purchase fresh vegetables, meats and dairy products to supplement nonperishable supplies in their holiday giving. Jim Fedak of Master’s Table characterized the check he received as a “blessing”.
